What Is Camsurf?
Camsurf is a video chat roulette platform launched in 2015 that markets itself as a cleaner, safer alternative to earlier platforms. It offers country filters, claims strict moderation, and has both web and mobile apps. Its free country filtering was a notable differentiator.
However, Camsurf's video-only format creates inherent privacy limitations. Camera access is mandatory, gender filtering requires premium, and despite moderation claims, users still report inappropriate encounters. Many privacy-conscious users seek alternatives that don't require showing their face.
Who Prefers Typing Over Camsurf's Webcam
Problem #1: Mandatory Camera Access
Camsurf requires active camera access — there's no text-only option. Your face, body, and environment are visible to strangers. Genzigs provides complete visual anonymity through text chat and avatars.
Problem #2: Premium Gender Filter
While Camsurf's country filter is free, gender filtering requires premium. Genzigs offers both gender and location filters completely free.
Problem #3: Privacy Risks
Video chat with strangers carries inherent risks — screenshots, recordings, and visual identification. Genzigs eliminates these risks entirely with text-based communication.
Problem #4: App Download Pushed
Camsurf encourages app downloads for the best experience. Genzigs works perfectly in any browser without installation.
Problem #5: No Reconnect
Camsurf offers no way to find previous chat partners. Genzigs's reconnect feature lets you save and continue great conversations.
