Plain-English summary: We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Some are essential (you can't turn them off — they make the site work). Others are for analytics and advertising. Premium users get a fully ad-free experience with no advertising cookies loaded at all.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. Cookies let websites remember things about your visit — like that you are signed in, your language preference, or which ads you have seen. Genzigs also uses similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and anonymous device identifiers; for simplicity we refer to all of these as "cookies" on this page.
2. Cookies we use
Essential cookies
These are required for Genzigs to work. They cannot be turned off in our system.
- Age confirmation: Remembers that you confirmed you are 18+ so we don't ask on every visit.
- Session & auth: Keeps you signed in (if you chose Google sign-in) and maintains your active chat session.
- Preferences: Remembers display name, avatar, gender preference, and partner region.
- Anti-abuse: An anonymous device identifier used for rate limiting and ban enforcement.
- CSRF / security tokens: Protect your account from cross-site request forgery.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization to understand how people use Genzigs in aggregate — which pages are popular, where matching is slow, what devices users are on. We never use analytics to identify you personally.
_ga,_ga_*— Google Analytics user/session identifiers (typically expire after 2 years).
Advertising cookies
Genzigs is free for everyone. To support that, we show ads to non-premium users. These advertising partners may set cookies or use device identifiers to deliver and measure ads. No advertising scripts are loaded for premium users.
- Google AdSense: Genzigs includes Google's AdSense account verification tag. After approval, Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can manage or opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings and read Google's policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- Adsterra: For non-premium users we show Adsterra advertising formats (native banner, display banners, social bar, popunder) for non-premium users. Adsterra and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to deliver, cap, and measure those ads. Their privacy policy is at adsterra.com/privacy-policy.
3. Premium users see no ads
When you sign in as a Genzigs Premium subscriber, no advertising scripts are loaded at all — not just hidden. That means no AdSense ad cookies, no Adsterra cookies, no banner or popunder scripts, and no third-party ad tracking from us. This is a hard guarantee in our codebase, not a setting.
4. How to control cookies
You have several options:
- Browser settings: All major browsers let you block or delete cookies. See instructions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Note: blocking essential cookies may break Genzigs.
- Google personalized ads: Opt out at Google Ads Settings.
- Industry opt-outs: DAA (US), NAI (US), Your Online Choices (EU).
- Go ad-free: Subscribe to Genzigs Premium — no ad cookies are loaded for premium users.
5. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is currently no industry consensus on how to honor it. We do not change behavior based on DNT signals today, but we minimize tracking to what is strictly needed for the service and ads. We will update this policy if standards change.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time — for example when we add a new ad network or change analytics. Significant changes will be announced through the app or via our Privacy Policy.
