Best Flingster Alternative: Genzigs is a text-only alternative to Flingster for adults: free to start, no camera or masks, instant matching, reporting and a reconnect feature. Explicit content isn't allowed, and Premium is optional.
If you're looking for a Flingster alternative, you're probably frustrated with the platform's expensive premium subscriptions, overwhelming adult content, and the constant pressure to use video chat. You're not alone — thousands of users are switching to Genzigs every month for a safer, free, and more enjoyable random chat experience.
Flingster launched in 2019 as an adult random video chat platform with AR masks. While the concept of masked video chat was novel, the platform has become synonymous with explicit content, aggressive paywalls ($19.99/month for basic features), and a user experience that prioritizes monetization over genuine connections. Genzigs offers everything you liked about random chat without any of those problems.
Why Some Adults Want Chat Without Flingster's Camera
Flingster Problem #1: Expensive Paywalls
Flingster's free tier is severely limited. Want to use gender filters? That's premium ($19.99/month). Want to use most AR masks? Premium. Want ad-free experience? Premium. At nearly $240/year, Flingster is one of the most expensive random chat platforms. Genzigs offers gender filters, instant matching, and an ad-free chat experience entirely for free.
Flingster Problem #2: Adult Content Everywhere
Flingster is marketed as an "adult" platform, and the content reflects that. Users frequently encounter explicit material within seconds of connecting. This makes the platform unsuitable for anyone seeking genuine conversations. Genzigs uses report-based moderation to maintain a safe, respectful environment where real conversations happen.
Flingster Problem #3: AR Masks Hide Real Identity
Flingster's signature feature — AR masks — was designed for privacy. But in practice, masks create an uncanny, impersonal experience. You never know who you're really talking to. Genzigs takes a better approach: text-based chat with custom avatars. You control your privacy completely without the creepiness of digital face masks.
Flingster Problem #4: Video-Only Chat
Flingster requires a webcam. No camera? You can't use the platform at all. This excludes mobile users without front cameras, desktop users without webcams, and anyone who simply prefers text-based communication. Genzigs is text-first — no camera needed, ever.
Flingster Problem #5: Weak Moderation
Given its adult positioning, Flingster's moderation is minimal. Reports are slow to act on, and inappropriate behavior often goes unchecked. Genzigs uses proactive moderation that reviews reported behaviour quickly, creating a safe space for genuine conversations.

Flingster vs Genzigs: Privacy Comparison
Privacy is where these platforms differ most fundamentally. Flingster uses AR masks layered over live video — your real face is still captured by your camera, processed by their servers, and the mask is applied on top. If the mask glitches (which happens), your face is briefly exposed.
Genzigs takes a completely different approach. There's no camera involved at any point. You choose a custom avatar that represents you visually, and all communication happens via text. Your physical identity is never captured, processed, or at risk of exposure. For true privacy, text-based chat with avatars is fundamentally more secure than masked video.
Starting a Camera-Free Chat After Flingster
- Visit genzigs.com: Works on any browser — desktop, mobile, tablet. No app download needed.
- Choose your avatar: Pick from dozens of avatars. No camera, no masks — just pick who represents you.
- Set preferences: Gender filter and region preferences are free (unlike Flingster's $19.99/mo paywall).
- Start chatting: Matched with a real person in under 5 seconds. Report any chat and our team reviews it.
- Use reconnect: Met someone interesting? Save the share code to chat again later — a feature Flingster lacks entirely.
Flingster Alternatives Without Video
Many users search for "Flingster without video" or "Flingster text only." Flingster doesn't offer a text-only mode — video is mandatory. If you want the random matching experience without the camera requirement, these are your best options:
- Genzigs (recommended): Text-first random chat with avatars, report-based moderation, gender filters, and reconnect features. Completely free.
- Chatous: Interest-based text chat, but limited user base and slow matching.
- Emerald Chat: Offers text mode alongside video, but moderation is inconsistent.
Genzigs is the clear leader for text-based random chat, combining the excitement of random matching with the privacy and comfort of text-only communication.
